Dan started his career at Baril working after school to earn money for college. Now, 35 years later, as head of this privately held company, Dan takes pride in having built Baril into one of the most respected integrated contract medical manufacturers in the U.S. Under his leadership, the company has attracted a world-class team of operations and engineering professionals who provide the kind of creative problem solving, business expertise, quality assurance and responsiveness that customers won’t find under the same roof anywhere else.
A stalwart champion of industry and technological innovation, Dan serves on several boards and committees dedicated to the commercialization of new medical technologies and manufacturing processes, including: The Center for Personalized Health Monitoring (CPHM) at UMass Amherst’s Institute for Applied Life Science and past member of The Steering Committee for the Massachusetts Medical Device Development Center (M2D2).
Dan holds a BS in Finance & Economics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Since joining Baril in 2014, Mike has had a tremendous impact. He has applied his 40 years of experience with major aerospace, telecommunications and medical manufacturers to help put Baril on par with the biggest and best in the medical converting and contract manufacturing industry. Mike has led development of a long-term strategic plan, fostered a culture of lean manufacturing and introduced additional capabilities that have opened new markets for the company and improved the bottom line.
These accomplishments mean real value for Baril’s customers through achievement of exceptional levels of quality, nearly perfect on-time delivery rates and dramatically reduced lead times, all of which translate into increased revenue and market share for them.
Mike holds an MBA as well as an MS and BS in Engineering Management from Western New England University.
As VP of Sales & Marketing at Baril, Neil is responsible for developing and maintaining strong customer relationships. He and his team of 4 dedicated sales professionals work hard to understand their customers’ businesses and find ways to bring value to product design and manufacturing. Neil has spent his entire career working in the medical manufacturing and converting business. His experience includes servicing the needs of large, multi-national customers as well as innovative entrepreneurs.
With deep knowledge of converting processes, specialty medical materials and new product development, Neil takes pride in helping his customers create custom solutions to complex problems across a variety of medical device categories, especially in the areas of Advanced Wound Care and Wearable Sensors.
Neil holds a BA in History and Political Science from the University of California.
As the Director of Operations, Kevin manages all aspects of Materials Management and Manufacturing Operations for Baril, ranging from sourcing materials to shipment of customer product. Key initiatives under his direction include driving lean manufacturing strategies, improvements to operational efficiencies and maximizing growth opportunities. He also values the collaborative relationships with customers in providing solutions to managed inventory programs.
Kevin has over 25 years of progressive leadership experience in the Medical Industry with key roles in global supply chain, logistics, inventory management and operations. He has initiated and led cross-functional teams with various continuous improvement projects and driven new best-in class processes and procedures. In addition, he has a strong background in employee development and change management.
Kevin received his BS in Business Administration from Fitchburg State University.
Working for over 25 years in high precision industries such as consumer electronics, defense and medical devices, Alex has developed deep expertise in the development and deployment of sophisticated quality and regulatory processes. He ensures that the systems and controls are in place to support Baril’s ISO 13485 and FDA quality and regulatory compliance certifications.
As a Six Sigma Black Belt, Alex enjoys training and mentoring Baril employees to learn how to identify and solve problems, learning how to put Six Sigma skills to work in pursuit of continuous improvement, knowing that these improvements ultimately will have a very real impact on patient safety.
Alex holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lowell.
Cheryl is responsible for all financial oversight at Baril, including: budgeting, accounting, cash management, payroll, compliance and insurance. Timely and accurate financial management is a critical component of Baril’s operations, keeping costs under control, projects on budget and assuring that the company is always in a position to deliver on commitments to customers and vendors.
Equally important to the success of the company is Cheryl’s leadership in the area of Human Resources, which is essential to attracting and retaining the best workforce in the industry. 20+ years in medical device manufacturing and financial services.
Cheryl has over 20 years’ experience in finance and holds an MBA as well as a BS in Business Studies and Accounting from Southern New Hampshire University.
Dana is the key person responsible for making sure client projects run smoothly, get done on time, and get done on budget. He oversees all production at Baril, scheduling and keeping track of everything that’s happening on the shop floor. With over 10 years at Baril, Dana’s intimate knowledge of equipment and processes is invaluable in designing manufacturing processes for challenging new products and his as well as for identifying lean manufacturing improvements.
For Dana, the best part of his job is finding creative ways to meet tight deadlines. His contributions are a major reason why Baril’s on-time delivery rate is consistently 98% or greater.
Dana holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, is certified in ISO 13485 auditing and is a Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma.
